Project

RADCARPET will develop a technical system for the space heating of the non-residential sector that can be easily installed in existing buildings. It will have a low investment cost and will produce substantial energy savings in energy-intensive buildings thus achieving a payback period of up to 2 years. RADCARPET will be a radiant heating wall-to-wall carpet covering the floor or wall surface of mostly non-residential buildings (offices, hotels and educational buildings) that will work as a space heating system. The radiant heat from the RADCARPETED floor will improve the thermal comfort perceived in the rooms and will be naturally energy-efficient, saving up to 5% of thermal energy (in comparison to radiators and HVAC –Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioned powered by electrical heat pumps).

RADCARPET will be a non-intrusive, simple and inexpensive solution for building renovation to reduce energy consumption, thus overcoming the obstacles for existing building refurbishment (expensive, lengthy works, inconvenient).

The project has started the 1st October 2013 and will last for a period of 2 years.
